Harrisburg Transportation Center In 1983, the Harrisburg Redevelopment Authority executed a 30-year master lease with the National Railroad Corporation to operate the center. Since then, the Authority has transformed it into a true intermodal transportation center, obtained National Historic recognition, and obtained over $7.68 million for renovations and improvements to the station. The Harrisburg Transportation Center was recently recognized as one of six most notable rail station renovation projects across the country, by the American Passenger Rail Coalition. Funding for improvements came from various sources, including the Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transportation Administration, Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. |
